Glacier football is back at the top of the mountain.

That’s at least according to the state’s prep sports media, which voted the Wolfpack the unanimous No. 1 team in the state in the first Associated Press football poll of the season, released Wednesday.

Glacier, which received all eight first-place votes, led the Class AA poll ahead of unbeatens Helena High and Billings Skyview. Great Falls C.M. Russell was voted fourth and Flathead fifth. Billings Senior, the only other two-win team in the division, received votes.

Columbia Falls also found itself near the top of the polls, ranked No. 2 in Class A behind Dillon. The Wildcats received a pair of first-place votes, falling five points behind the Beavers in the voting. Miles City, Belgrade and Laurel rounded out the top five. Whitefish received votes.

Bigfork snuck into the back end of the Class B top 10, falling at No. 10. Fairfield leads the poll, followed by Glasgow, Huntley Project, Forsyth and Boulder in the top five. Choteau, Townsend, Whitehall and Deer Lodge closed out the poll with the Vikings.

Wibaux tops the first 8-man rankings and Stanford-Geyser-Denton the 6-man poll.
