Missing toddler found in hiding place

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was called when a toddler gave his parents trouble Thursday evening in Bigfork. The 3-year-old was reported missing after his mother last saw him headed to the garage to grab some ice cream. Neighbors in the Grayling Lake Drive neighborhood helped the parents look for the little boy, who was found after about half an hour hiding in the family boat.

Law officers were called by a woman when her neighbor’s dog was running loose and came on her front porch trying to attack her show rabbits Thursday morning on Ferndale Drive.

Hungry Horse campers was broken into and a 50-inch TV, PlayStation 3, and DVD player were stolen.

A personal watercraft was stolen from a backyard on Hidden Meadow Lane in Columbia Falls.

A Kalispell woman reported receiving a fraudulent check Thursday afternoon.

A reckless driver was spotted on North Main Street on Thursday afternoon weaving in and out of traffic and speeding. The vehicle, a black Jetta, had small children in the back seat.

Police were called to Ezy Drive in Kalispell when a neighbor could hear children and an adult screaming from across the street. Police found it was just a group of children jumping on a trampoline.

A man was reported after he screamed at an employee at a Coram business Thursday night. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for obstructing a peace officer.


A woman called the Columbia Falls Police Department after she had some service work done on her vehicle and a $100 bill was missing from the visor Thursday morning.

A bee flew into a 2-year-old’s ear at a First Avenue East North residence, and the panicked mother called 911. She couldn’t see any sting or other marks on the child’s ear, and decided to take the child to his pediatrician instead of having an ambulance take him.

A dog was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 2 East. A kind citizen stopped to help the dog and blocked traffic so it would not get hit again.


Whitefish Police were notified about a group of high school kids who sit in a nearby alley and “smoke an odd-smelling substance” every morning before school.


Kalispell Police were called to the skate park when a group of youths in a white vehicle were reported smoking marijuana on Thursday.

Police assisted a lost traveler who only spoke German. The elderly man was taken to his hotel, where his wife was waiting for him.

A woman was reported for throwing a bar stool into the street and beating a car with a belt during an argument with a man on Fourth Avenue West on Thursday night. The woman also smashed a window on the vehicle.

A woman asked a store clerk on U.S. 93 South to call 911 for her because she had nowhere to stay. The woman then went to sleep on the sidewalk.

A group of unruly children broke into a Fourth Avenue East North work site and were vandalizing some of the machinery.

A woman’s vehicle was hit by a rolling garbage bin on Sunny View Lane after a helicopter landed nearby Thursday.

A black pickup truck was seen on East Idaho Street with a dog tied to the bumper Thursday night. The caller thought the dog was dead, and a nearby road construction crew said they saw the vehicle drive through the area with the dog dragging behind the pickup.

A man was arrested after a fight turned physical at an East Idaho Street hotel early Friday.
