St. Ignatius woman arrested in high-speed pursuits
A woman was arrested Sunday night after two high-speed vehicle pursuits in Lake County that ended with the woman ramming two sheriff’s vehicles.
Reba Hawkins, 26, of St. Ignatius, is now jailed for parole violation and other charges related to the pursuit, which began at about 10 p.m. when Lake County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull her over a parole violation warrant.
Hawkins refused to stop, and she attempted to elude deputies and Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribal officers by leading officers on a chase at speeds of up to 90 mph, according to a press release.
Hawkins led law enforcement on back roads in the Pablo area, and she eventually eluded officers and abandoned her vehicle, a black Dodge pickup.
At about midnight, Hawkins was seen leaving a Pablo residence in a silver passenger car. Another chase ensued, with speeds of up to 100 mph on Clairmont Road, until Hawkins’ vehicle was temporarily blocked by a deputy’s vehicle. She allegedly rammed her vehicle backwards twice into the deputy’s vehicle, and then she sped away until she hit another deputy’s vehicle in a head-on collision. She was blocked in again and arrested at about 12:15 a.m.
Hawkins was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Polson, where she was treated and released, and taken to the Lake County Detention Center. The two deputies were also treated and released from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
