Bear doesn't care for warning shots

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an aggressive black bear on Rockwood Road in Kalispell on Monday night. The bear was trying to attack the resident’s dogs, and has been pestering people the area for the past week, according to the caller. The man also said that his brother-in-law tried to fire off a couple of warning shots into the air in an attempt to scare the bear away, but it became more aggressive when the shots were fired.

A 2014 gray Subaru Outback was reported stolen from Bear Trail in Whitefish early Monday morning.

 A 9-year-old girl was attacked and bitten in the face by a dog in a trailer park off Montana 35 in Kalispell on Monday morning. The girl was taken to the emergency room by her parents, and Animal Control took possession of the vicious dog, which wasn’t up-to-date on its rabies vaccination.

Police were called to a Kalispell location on U.S. 93 South on Monday morning, where a man was hand-writing responses so unusual it prompted the person helping him to call 911. The man, who wrote that he could not talk or sleep because a man and woman took him, stated that his name was “Prime.” He also wrote that the couple who took him gave him a virus in his blood and that he was dying, and later that the man and woman are going to “sacrifice him tomorrow on the equinox.” The caller said he believed the man was under the influence of something.

A Bigfork man called police because his wife and another woman had gotten into a fight over a scarf and some jewelry, worth about $20, and now his wife was receiving threats.

A man went to a Kalispell school pretending to be a child’s father, according to a woman who called from Lakeside to report him. She said this is an ongoing harassment issue with the man.

A pair of brass knuckles with the name Cobi inscribed on them was turned in to the Whitefish Police Department.

A young boy was seen riding a four-wheeler up and down South Cedar Drive on Monday afternoon. Police spoke to the boy and his parents about riding on the public roadway.

A not-so-neighborly man threw rocks at a passing vehicle driven by a teenager Monday night on Ezy Drive in Kalispell. The man said he was sick of the teenagers in the area driving recklessly, but he might be the one in trouble — the rocks he threw dented the vehicle and caused a spider-web crack in the driver’s window.


A $750 stroller was stolen a few days ago from a U.S. 93 South location, and Whitefish Police were called Monday morning when the thief tried to pawn it.

Someone pulled the old switcheroo on a citizen’s license plates Monday. The man noticed the plates on his vehicle had been switched with another set of Montana license plates.

Someone made off with $2,050 in cash after rifling through an unlocked vehicle on Second Avenue West North over the weekend.

A woman was caught shoplifting at a First Avenue East North location.

A man was riding his bike on Sixth Avenue West and noticed another man trying to break into a vehicle. When the suspect saw the bicyclist, he growled at him.
