Fair-Mont-Egan School District is now offering beginning and intermediate Spanish to adults.

Adults 18 and older who are living within the school district are invited to sign up. Cost is $6 per class. Students must commit to a full month of classes at a time, which would be $24 for four classes during October. Registration ends Oct. 1 and may be made at the school office.

The intermediate class will meet from 4 to 5 p.m., Thursdays beginning Oct. 2. Beginner classes will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Oct. 7. Classes will meet in the school music room.

Classes will help students build language skills needed to interact with native Spanish speakers. Grammar and vocabulary will be taught in each class.

The beginner class will focus on basic conversations in the present tense such as ordering at a restaurant or asking for directions.

Students in the intermediate class will learn to describe past and future events and express feelings and opinions.

Classes will be taught by Jessica Laferriere, who majored in Spanish at the University of Montana and studied  abroad in Spain. Laferriere also spent two years teaching Spanish daily while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala.

Additionally, she taught Spanish at a dual-language school in Colorado.
