Donald R. Schrammeck, 94, passed away peacefully April 7, 2015, with his children at his side.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, at O’Connor Funeral Home in Great Falls. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at O’Connor Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery in Great Falls.  Arrangements have been entrusted to O’Connor Funeral Home.

Donald was born July 28, 1920, in Great Falls to Walter and Anna. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1942. Lt. Col. Schrammeck became the first Montana Air National Guardsman to retire at the end of 20 years of service in the Air Force and Air National Guard. He flew 4,000 hours, with 94 combat missions in P38s during World War II in the Southwest Pacific, and two years of active duty with Montana Air National Guard during the Korean conflict. 

He was united in marriage to Adeline Mora in 1948 and the two remained inseparable until her passing in 1993. Don was also employed with the Great Northern Railroad beginning in 1941. He remained there for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1980.

Don is survived by his son Greg, daughter Jan, and brother Ken.  

He was preceded in death by parents, wife Adeline, brother Paul, and sisters Lois and Nona.
