Gary L. Sampson, 61

Gary L. Sampson of Whitefish died Thursday, March 26, 2015, after a long battle with kidney disease. 

He was born June 3, 1953 in Ottawa, Illinois, the son of Martin and Eva (Rick) Sampson. He was a 1971 graduate of Ottawa High School.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Norman) Sampson, formerly of Ottawa; two brothers, Don and Arlene Sampson, and Marty and Judy Sampson; and two sisters, Sandy and Tim Duncan, and Sheila and Gary Modesitt; along with many nieces and nephews.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman, a member of Carpenters-Millwrights Local 911 and co-founder/treasurer of the North Valley Sportsman Club. He was active in the Flathead County 4-H Fair, Youth for Hunting & Fishing and the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation.

He was an intelligent, humorous and loving man who was his happiest when roaming the mountains and great wilderness of God’s country.                                                    

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date by family and friends in Ottawa.
