Mary Martilliar Freese, 68

| April 25, 2015 9:36 PM

Mary Martilliar (Wilcox) Freese, 68, spent her final days in Berea, Kentucky, at home with family, passing on a sunny spring day, April 18, 2015.

Originally from Nome, Alaska, Mary married and raised her family in Kalispell, retiring in Anchorage, Alaska.

Loved by all who knew her, the favorite of many, she was famous in her time. A work-aholic, she spent her final years making hundreds of baby quilts for the Alaska Native Medical Center. She spoke for NeighborWorks Anchorage, and will be featured this year by NeighborWorks America.

It thrilled her to be called “Lady” by her husband, and being “G-ma” (Grandma) to her grandchildren, completed her.

She was the wife of Ronald Freese; mother to Scott Freese and wife Marci, Marti Shoemaker and husband Mark, Marcy Freese and boyfriend Travis Peterson, and stepmother to Ryan Ball; grandmother to John, Alexandra, Jared, Tanner, Bridger, Jordan and Rhyann.

A memorial will be planned by the family for this summer, in Kalispell, Montana. Please message Marti Freese Shoemaker on Facebook for details.
