Area law enforcement officers will be serving up pizzas and other dishes for a cause today.

The Tip-A-Cop fundraiser puts officers, agents and troopers in a different kind of service industry, serving food and earning tips for Montana athletes.

“You leave a tip for your law enforcement server, and that tip goes directly to Special Olympics Montana,” said Kalispell Police Officer Jason Parce.

The servers will be doing everything from cleaning tables and serving plates to washing dishes in full uniform.

The event will take place at MacKenzie River Pizza locations in Kalispell and Whitefish. Kalispell police and Montana Highway Patrol Troopers will be at the two Kalispell eateries, while Whitefish police and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents will be working at the Whitefish location.

Parce said law enforcement is among the top supporters of Special Olympics through events such as Tip-A-Cop.

The event starts at 11 a.m. today and runs through closing time.
