Man not acting very presidential

There was an incoherent man reportedly trying to break into houses on South Cedar Drive, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The man told a witness that his name was Barack Obama. Deputies detained the man and took him to the hospital for evaluation. The man was reportedly not the U.S. president.

Authorities fielded a report of a man dressing like a “Green Beret” and stalking around the Holt Drive area with weapons. The man was allegedly in full military garb.

A sick bat was found and reported to the authorities at Echo Chalet Drive. It reportedly didn’t make contact with any people.

Deputies arrested a man on Meadow Lake Boulevard after he allegedly head-butted a woman and threatened to kill a terrier.

During a traffic stop on Creston Hatchery Road, a deputy noted a strong smell of marijuana. He got permission to search the vehicle and found “some green flakes.” The driver denied smoking recently.

A U.S. 93 resident thought that her cat was poisoned. She went to a veterinarian, who determined that it was not poisoned but was in fact dead. The woman also felt that her dog was murdered weeks ago.

One driver called the sheriff’s office because a roadside hitchhiker gave him a “death stare” on Big Mountain Road.

There was a report of a man who said he was filming his wife but “seemed to be videotaping others,” according to witnesses. He left the Bigfork area in a vehicle with Alberta plates.

Two children claimed that a mountain lion was afoot near Lakeside Boulevard. There was no confirmed sighting by law enforcement.


An Airport Road resident told the Kalispell Police Department that somebody tried to “pull the wood framing apart” on his shed. The vandal wasn’t strong enough to gain entry, however.

A man was reportedly “pestering” customers at a West Idaho Street business. Police noted that he had been previously kicked out of the place.

One woman was reportedly panhandling on U.S. 93 South. She told an officer that she was waiting for country singer Keith Urban.

Multiple trash bags were reportedly strewn around Grandview Drive.

Police were alerted to a man who was “freaking out” on the side of Fifth Street West. He reportedly was angry about his truck breaking down.

A fake $5 bill was reportedly used for a transaction at a Hutton Ranch Road business. Police collected the evidence.

A boy reportedly shot a man with a BB gun near College Avenue. The projectile did not break the skin.

There was a report of a man holding a sign near Grandview Drive that had a curse word written on it. The caller didn’t want his granddaughter to see it. An officer advised the sign-holder to find a more appropriate word.

One caller’s son left a cat at a Parkway Drive home. The resident couldn’t keep the animal because it caused a serious allergic reaction.


Someone called the Whitefish Police Department about a lost wallet near Lupfer Avenue. It turned out that just minutes before, someone had turned the wallet into the police station. The situation was rectified.

Police cited a vehicle for parking partially on the boat launch area at Whitefish Lake.

A man was reportedly knocked out by two other men on Central Avenue. The witness said the victim was lying on the ground for a while but was eventually “fine.”

Police broke up a fight between some kids near Central Avenue.

A boat was reportedly playing loud music “about how they hate cops.”


One person asked the Columbia Falls Police Department if he could store weapons with them while he goes on a “tour” of Canada.

A man was arrested on Meadow Lake Boulevard for a domestic violence dispute.

A woman accidentally dialed 911 because it was on her recent calls list, according to her report.

There was a report of vegetable thefts at the community garden on Fifth Street East.
