LETTER: Parking war has only one solution

| August 5, 2015 9:00 PM

The Flathead High School parking shortage has been a festering sore and in the news for a long time.

However, what has not been in the news is a realistic and the only long-term solution.

Certainly, any proposal for parking involving parking permits, restrictions on parking (whether on students or residents) is unworkable.

Now a possible lawsuit should have been deemed by city and school district as likely and probable. The practical result of these unending Band-Aid solutions is more conflict without solving the students and school board’s problem. This is not a city problem; it is the school district’s problem to solve

School District 5 needs to step up by moving forward with plans to acquire additional areas for the necessary student parking. —Mike Horn, Whitefish
