Man makes urgent but unconvincing appeal for Facebook access

A woman told the Kalispell Police Department she was concerned when a man approached her and her 9-year-old son on West Idaho Street. The man, who had a Russian accent, handed the boy a cell phone, requesting that he “get him on Facebook.” The man said his wife and kids had left him, and he was presumably trying to contact them. The woman and her son left, but kept the man’s cell phone to turn over to police. The man reportedly went into a casino.

A 47-year-old woman suffered knee and back pain after she was hit by a vehicle on South Main Street.

The bumper was the worst off in a two-vehicle accident on North Main Street. Nobody was injured.

Seven bags of luggage were reportedly stolen right off the roof of a vehicle that was parked in front of a U.S. 2 hotel.

A U.S. 93 South business reported a man who was sitting outside. The man was “not causing any problems”; however he was shirtless and drinking a beer.

One man was panhandling on Hutton Ranch Road, according to a witness. He was clever and covered up the “no panhandling” sign with his jacket.

According to a report, a man was harassing a woman at a Center Street business. Two men approached the man about his conduct, which prompted the alleged harasser to call the police.

A man was reportedly passed out on the floor of a West Idaho Street business’s bathroom. Officers advised him to find a way home other than his motorcycle.

A stack of checkbook invoices was reported stolen from a vehicle on Second Avenue East.


The Columbia Falls Police Department made a traffic stop on an apparently wanted man. He was arrested on a warrant from probation and parole.

A dog reportedly broke through a fence on Mitchell Way and bit somebody. The animal was not current on its vaccinations and was put in quarantine.

Police held on to a small black dog that was running loose near Plum Creek.


A “couple thousand dollars” worth of fishing tackle was reported stolen from a boat on Lupfer Avenue, according to a Whitefish Police Department report.

There was a break-in reported at a Houston Point Drive home.

Officers checked on a Dakota Avenue residence, where someone reported “a lot of screaming.” The people inside turned out to be OK.
