Funny smell was animal, not human

A West Lakeshore Drive resident reported a “strong odor of decay” to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The caller couldn’t find any animals in the area and feared that an elderly neighbor had died. Deputies responded and found a decaying deer.

Someone apparently read on Facebook that if you dial a certain three digit number, it would re-direct you to 911. It turns out to be true, and the caller had to inform dispatch that there was no emergency.

A Ponderosa Drive resident was dealing with a man who had passed out in a car in front of the resident’s home. The sleepy subject told deputies that he was waiting for someone.

Someone reported his mother’s vehicle stolen from North Somers Road and that he had a suspect. That person called back, however, to say that the vehicle wasn’t stolen, and his sister had taken it for a drive.

A Maple Drive resident called the sheriff’s office to report a trespasser who had reportedly hopped the fence to retrieve a Frisbee but kept walking on the property.

A fawn had gotten trapped inside of a storage unit facility on Lower Valley Road. It was scared to approach the exit gate.

A Deep Woods Trail resident was having troubles with construction workers letting dogs loose in the area. He told the sheriff’s office that they threatened him when he spoke up about it.

One man said he was trying to work on a community water pump in Lakeside but was hampered by a belligerent man. The reportedly belligerent man was upset because he thought the repairman should have gotten to the job earlier.

Deputies arrested a man who allegedly hit a woman at a Badger Hollow Trail home. The woman was reportedly bleeding from her nose.

There was a report of six Corvettes in a caravan on Montana 83. Some of them were driving recklessly, according to a witness.

Someone called emergency dispatch because a dog was howling in an “unventilated” van on First Avenue East in Kalispell.

An abandoned vehicle was parked “strangely” on Whitefish Stage, according to the caller.

One witness said that a driver ran a red light and nearly hit two vehicles. The driver was described as having a “giant grin” during the offense.

A Martin City resident said that a man threatened her family with a knife. He eventually left without incident but did have a warrant out for his arrest.

Klondyke Loop residents were getting irritated at some reportedly drunk people who came out at night to look for a cat. They apparently searched at night because “that’s when it comes out.”

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a report of a small fire on Wyoming Street. It turned out to be a small controlled burn in a barrel.

The Whitefish Police Department spoke to a detained shoplifter at a Central Avenue business.

A vehicle with bright lights was reported on a golf course near U.S. 93. Police were unable to find the suspect vehicle.

Two callers complained about the same loud party near Armory Road.

The Columbia Falls Police Department cited multiple youths with minor-in-possession tickets.

Police responded to Thrid Avenue East to help a woman who said she couldn’t breath and didn’t know where she was.
