Paving starts today on the second phase of U.S. 93 reconstruction west of Whitefish and will continue over the next two weeks except for a pause over the weekend.

General contractor Schellinger Construction anticipates completing the paving by Aug. 28 and will chip-seal the road following that. Motorists should plan for delays and one-lane traffic on the stretch of U.S. 93 from Karrow Avenue to Mountainside Drive.

Landscaping also is underway and will continue into the fall.

The reconstruction project includes a variety of improvements, such as the addition of sidewalks and a bike path extending past Lion Mountain Road. It also installed new water, sewer and storm-drain lines, pedestrian tunnels at the golf course, retaining walls and street lighting.
