LETTER: Trump 'gets it' on immigration

| August 22, 2015 8:50 PM

Following the main debate of 10 Republican hopefuls, Donald Trump was the recipient of negative remarks concerning his stand on Mexican immigration. One would assume that his ratings would take a nose dive, but that didn’t happen. According to the last poll I saw, he is still ahead with double figures.

The American taxpayer, footing the bill for all the medical and social welfare benefits that the illegals get for free, feels vindicated at last. A shining knight, on a white horse, has arrived. Donald Trump is ready to champion the taxpayer’s concerns. Neither the Republican or Democratic parties seem to be serious about stopping the flood from Mexico.

Whoever wins the White House, I would hope that Donald Trump becomes the minister of trade. —Poul Houlberg, Kalispell
