Driver, 85, killed in accident

The name of a woman involved in a fatal car accident Tuesday morning in Somers has been released by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

Shirley E. Crary, 85, died around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday after her vehicle crashed on Best View Drive.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Patrick Herman described the accident.

“She was headed eastbound on Best View Drive when she came to a switchback,” he said. “For an unknown reason she did not negotiate the curve and went down the cliff about 50 feet. Her vehicle continued until it struck a rock embankment, where it came to rest.”

Crary was wearing a seat belt. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
