Glacier reopens Apgar Lookout Trail

| August 26, 2015 9:00 PM

The Apgar Lookout Trail on the west side of Glacier National Park is now open although the lookout remains closed.

The trail had been closed for public safety while a National Park Service communications tower and building were removed and replaced on Apgar Mountain.

A helicopter was used to transport the communications tower and building from atop Apgar Mountain to a landing zone near the base of the mountain. A new communications tower and structure were then installed to better support park radio operations.

Visitors should be cautious of any debris or construction materials near the trail and the Apgar Lookout. Climbing on any equipment or materials is dangerous and prohibited.
