LETTER: Radical Christian promotes love

| December 10, 2015 11:00 AM

I dislike to say it: I am a radical Christian. Our nation is reaping the rewards of radical Islam. I am programmed by Christ’s words — “As you have done it to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.”

To start with, 11- to 13-year-old girls who come from a male-dominated society, with multiple marriage (largest I know of is 26 wives) should be educated and have a right to their own bodies. Instead, they are traded for cows to increase their father’s worth. Sold to the right bidder.

I have worked in Africa with a school for girls that started with 35 girls, but we now have 300 students, who study for six years at the high school and junior college level. I am proud to work with Operation Bootstrap Africa, a nondenominational charity. I’ve given extravagantly from a limited means. Eight- to 20-hour flights, and have spent a year on the ground. Yes, I’m a radical for Christ.

What does a radical Muslim do? He or she uses guns and bombs to kill, injure and induce fear in anyone who doesn’t believe Muhammad like they do. (They are still willing to kill their own people over relationships that occurred over 1,400 years ago.) For us Christians, the choice they give us is to convert or die. The Quran and sharia law both lead to radicalization when studied.

If you doubt this, study the life of Muhammad. Is that the kind of man you would follow?

Our hope as radical Christians is to show the world there is a difference between love and hate. —Larry Passmore, Kalispell
