LAW ROUNDUP: Snakes on a plane? No, just drugs on a train

A Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the Libby train station, because Amtrak staff said that a man was smoking marijuana on board. Staff wanted the man removed.

 A woman on Fifth Street had to be taken to the hospital after she was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend.

Fish and game officers released a black bear from a trap off Cripple Horse Road, Highway 37. The caller initially thought the bear was a grizzly that would not survive.


A woman called Whitefish Police to report that a man had been harassing her. The woman and the man’s wife had some interaction that caused the man to react poorly.

A caller traveling U.S. 93 reported that he or she had hit a deer. The deer had then been hit by a second vehicle. The caller said the super-deer kept going and was still walking. The driver’s vehicle was not damaged.

A woman on Central Avenue reported that she lost her wallet that contained her Social Security card and her ID.

A frequent caller from Baker Avenue was counseled regarding her use of 911 after she called dispatch at least seven times, first claiming that her roommate was curled into a fetal position and threatening her, and then later claiming that her roommate had six or seven heads. The woman was hysterical, irate and sobbing at times and called back to ask to speak to a supervisor because she believed the officers she spoke with were not taking her concerns seriously.

A man was told to move along by an officer after he tried to fight his way into a bar on Central Avenue. The man had previously been banned from the establishment. He made it in, but was asked to leave.


Columbia Falls Police helped a neighbor make arrangements to move a trailer from a property on Diane Road. The property owner had made a complaint about the trailer being parked on the land.

An officer found that all was OK on Eighth Street West after a man reported that he had received a text message from a woman claiming her husband was in trouble. The married couple has a history of abuse, so the man thought he would ask an officer to check in.

A woman called mid-day for answers about evicting her ex-boyfriend who had become volatile lately. He allegedly Tased the woman and her dog. The woman was worried because the man owns a gun and she thought he might hurt her in the future. An officer advised the woman of her options. She called back near dinner time, saying that the man was refusing to leave. The man also called 911 and said he pays $500 per month in rent, which made him wonder if the could legally be kicked out of the house. The woman’s mother came to pick her up and get her out of the residence.
