Columbia Falls parking shouting match disrupts yoga zen

Columbia Falls Police handled a parking dispute where a woman was upset what she encountered as she parked on First Avenue West. The woman said on two separate occasions a man in his underwear and another woman had come out of the house to yell at her for parking on a public street as she went to and from yoga class. An officer made contact with the homeowner, who explained that parking issues have been ongoing. If the public parks too close to the home it causes a gate to open. An officer advised the woman of other parking options nearby.  

A woman on Ninth Street West said her purse had been stolen from her workplace.


A Whitefish Police officer was dispatched to Birch Point Drive where a woman was upset as she watched an injured deer struggle. She believed the deer might have been hit by a train.

A group of two men and two women were counseled after they allegedly drunkenly harassed staff at a business on U.S. 93. The group called for a sober ride after the officer arrived, but weren’t quite done causing problems. The officer left and then was called again after one of the women re-entered the business and allegedly pulled the hair of a female staffer. One man and one woman were cited and bonded out of jail.


Kalispell Police were asked to perform extra patrol after a woman reported that she did a man a favor by letting him use her phone as she left a meeting on U.S. 2. The next day the man was sitting outside her office building and demanded that she give him a ride. The woman had no idea how the man found out where she worked. She was “creeped out.”

 A loaded Smith and Wesson pistol was found in a restroom in a business on West Idaho Street.

Officers were called to East Idaho Street where a fight apparently ended in someone being doused with bear spray. The two parties left the scene before officers arrived. Officers were told one of the men tried to use a tattoo parlor piercing tool to stab someone. The man also had two knives. The man was located after he began knocking on someone’s door on Eight Avenue East North, saying he had been pepper-sprayed. Officers used a Taser to detain the man.

A man was transported via ambulance to the hospital from a home on Mission Way, where he and a woman got into a drunken fight.

Two men fled on foot after stealing deli meat from a supermarket on Third Avenue East North. The men were not apprehended.

A woman on Second Avenue West North reported a man had ransacked her home while she was in the hospital. The woman has a no-contact order against the suspect.

A thief on Fifth Avenue East left the owner of a $4,000 Trek bicycle with another less fancy ride as they made off with the more expensive bike.
