Coroner investigates discovery of body

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office sent a coroner to Marion, where a man was found dead in the snow. The department was investigating Thursday afternoon, but nothing was immediately suspicious about the death, according to Sheriff Chuck Curry.

Dispatchers fielded a call from an inmate, who complained that deputies were using the department’s shooting range too early in the morning and disturbing the slumber of those in the jail.

A woman in Columbia Falls reported that her Dutch passport had been lost.

A person called from Olney to report that he or she had hit a bald eagle that was feeding on a carcass on a roadway. The person suspected the eagle was seriously injured or dead. There were no fish and game units available to pick up the bird.

A man on Jorgenson Trail in Columbia Falls reported that someone slashed his tires.

A restaurant manager on U.S. 2 asked if customers could legally openly carry firearms. The manager said one customer had a gun in his holster as he dined. A deputy said it was up to the establishment about whether or not to allow the carry on its property.

A woman on Conrad Drive called for help after her daughter went berserk and started throwing things during a breakup with a boyfriend.

Kalispell Police placed an expensive doll in an “accidental throwaway” pile after a waste worker found the doll, which has a projected $150 value.

A woman on Fifth Avenue West reported that her boyfriend was drunk and screaming at everyone, making people scared. Parties were separated.

A woman was told to not come back to a store on Third Avenue East North after she stole a candy bar and deli items.

A man reported that he was in an Evergreen store and was headed to the hospital. The man said he accidentally shot himself in the leg somewhere near Kila.

Columbia Falls Police took a report from a man who said that he had written a $450 check to a woman. The check bounced and he gave the woman cash, but she then cashed the check, also.

Whitefish Police were notified after a woman with a child in a stroller allegedly stole a lunch box with toys inside. A worker allegedly had photos of the perpetrator.

A taxi cab driver called for help on Lakeshore Drive after a passenger reached forward and slapped the driver. Law enforcement responded with caution after finding out that the suspect’s family had made threats against officers in the past because a cousin was killed by law enforcement.

A drunken man greeted officers outside a bar intoxicated, and with a bloody lip, trying to explain how he had gotten into a fight over his dog being left outside. The man was told he could file a report the next day after he sobered up.

 A woman on Spokane Avenue reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a drunk, and possibly high man who was her friend’s boyfriend. The woman said she wasn’t raped, but that she awoke to the man touching her inappropriately. He had been given permission to sleep on the couch.
