Strange skies reported over Kalispell

| February 23, 2015 9:00 PM

A woman called the Kalispell Police Department to report something “weird in the sky” near Second Street West. She wanted to know if anyone else had seen it, because she had seen it in the last few days. It “looked like a bright moon, but it’s very, very low,” according to the caller. She said it came so close that it caused a crack in her wall, and she took a picture. The report revealed that the object was, in fact, the moon.

Another call came in about a moving object. A remote-controlled airplane was reportedly hovering over Main Street. Police told the pilot to keep it off of Main, as it might cause a distraction to drivers.

Police responded to a call of illicit tic-tac-toe on North Meridian Road. A resident said that two young children were playing the game on the hood of her new Volkswagen, leaving scratches. An officer observed one scratch. The situation ended amicably, as the parents vowed discipline for their kids’ actions.

A driver reported two males jumping out of an abandoned car near the U.S. 93 bypass. The males reportedly headed toward a transient camp carrying a white plastic grocery bag.

Some “explicit” photos sent over the Internet were reportedly too much for a resident who reported them to police. The communicating parties were counseled.

One caller requested extra patrols around Kenway Drive because there were strange noises in the building.

A “marijuana bong” was reportedly just sitting on the side of Woodland Avenue. Police disposed of the paraphernalia.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a woman sleeping in a parked car off of U.S. 93 South. A deputy advised her to try and find a more private place to snooze.

Cars were swerving and braking to avoid a remote-controlled car that was zipping across West Reserve Drive, according to reports. The caller said two young males were the operators, and it looked like they were “playing dodge ball with traffic.” Deputies were unable to locate the suspects.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received four calls on Sunday about loose or missing manhole covers. They reported the holes on Nucleus Avenue and Ninth Street West.
