The city of Whitefish continues the task of updating its downtown master plan with another public meeting planned Wednesday, Jan. 14.

The session will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

Crandall Arambula, the Portland consulting firm that drafted the original 2005 downtown plan, will present the results of a public meeting held in November 2014 by the Heart of Whitefish downtown business group.

The consultants also will present a draft implementation strategy and document summary.

The work session will allow for questions and comments from the public.

The plan update builds on downtown development that has stimulated more than $9 million of private investment since the plan was adopted a decade ago.

Among the public projects completed are the reconstruction and improvements to Central Avenue, Second Street improvements between Spokane and Baker Avenues, the city’s purchase of Depot Park, development of a public parking lot at Second Street and Spokane Avenue and the addition wayfinding signs throughout the city.

A copy of the draft plan update can be found on the city’s website at www.cityofwhitefish.org.
