Is that the Whitefish Lake Monster?

A Lakeshore Drive resident called the Whitefish Police to report seeing a “big brown thing” in the middle of frozen Whitefish Lake. It was not the conning tower of a Yankee-class Soviet submarine, nor a plesiosaur left over after the last major extinction, but an ice house where people were fishing.

A concerned caller reported a man in a puffy jacket was trying the handles at the middle school, trying to get in. 

A Flathead Avenue man called to report his wife was missing. She has Alzheimer’s and he lost track of her at the post office. Police found her, and the man was reunited with his wife.

A man who had been working at a bar on Central Avenue came outside after his shift to find he had been victim of a hit and run, leaving his car badly dinged.


The Columbia Falls Police Department took a call from a gas station employee requesting a welfare check on a little girl who had been left in a car in the parking lot. Her mother was in a casino and had left the little girl in the vehicle for a while.

A man called police and confessed he was afraid he might kill himself. He had been drinking and was massively depressed.


The Polson Police Department made an arrest on Anchor Way at 1:06 a.m. for obstructing a peace officer.
