Norman Edward Weller has been identified as the Olney man who died in a house fire early Sunday.

Weller, 50, was the only person in the residence at the time of the fire, which appears to have been accidental, according to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry.

Weller’s body was taken to Missoula to the State Crime Lab, where a positive identification was made.

The fire was reported at 4:30 a.m. Sunday and the house was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived, Olney Fire Chief Ken Morehead said.

According to Morehead, it appeared Weller was sleeping when the fire was sparked by a wood-burning stove.

Two dogs were in the house and escaped the fire. One is unaccounted for.
