Turkeys on the road, and we don't mean the birds

A man called Whitefish Police on Monday when he was driving down Big Mountain Road and had to slow down to avoid hitting a rafter of turkeys crossing the street. However, a car full of young men then flew by, possibly hitting some of the gobblers, while making gestures at the man who slowed down to protect the animals.

A woman called Kalispell Police from a Kelly Road residence saying that she had set her purse down to put her boots on last night and forgot the purse at her doorstep. She suspected a delivery person, but called back about an hour later, saying that her supervisor had found her purse in her car.

An employee at a South Main Street store called police to report that a woman had purchased a wedding gown there and tried to return it a week later. The store’s policy does not allow for returns, so the woman called her credit card company and disputed the charge. She was awarded the money back and is now reportedly trying to sell the dress on Facebook.

A woman was caught shoplifting at First Avenue East North on Monday.

A woman reported receiving a title in the mail for a vehicle she reported stolen several years ago.

A mall security person called police after a man who had won a TV in a giveaway several months ago continued to harass the mall office with phone calls saying that the TV doesn’t work. The security officer said he went and checked it out only to find that the TV had been dropped.

A man said he lost his wallet at a business Sunday night and when he recovered it, he was short about $150.

A woman on Fifth Avenue West reported that a 50-inch TV, PlayStation 4 and two recliners were stolen about two weeks ago.

A couple of drunk bar patrons were refused service at a downtown Kalispell bar Monday night and then took off driving, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The pair was described as two men in their early 30s in a pickup truck that struck a tree on its way out of the bar parking lot, taking off the passenger-side mirror.

A man called police saying he was looking at his stolen headache rack that had been attached to another vehicle parked in a U.S. 93 South store parking lot Monday afternoon.

A driver’s license was found in the street on Park Avenue in Kalispell on Monday and was returned to its rightful owner.

A caller from Hungry Horse reported that a housekeeper has been stealing prescription drugs and money.

A Kalispell snowplow driver had to call police Monday evening when a resident of the area he was plowing moved all of the snow back into the street. The man was upset about the snow being pushed into his yard.
