Emperor Obama?

Barack Obama, with his executive order giving amnesty to five million or more illegal aliens, has essentially made an end run around Congress. If this tactic is allowed to stand, it has ramifications far beyond this immigration issue.

This is taking the power of the executive branch far beyond what is stipulated in the Constitution and stands the idea of the separation of powers on its head. If the president can take unilateral action of this sort, it really nullifies the need for Congress.

This president has shown contempt for Congress and the Constitution by enforcing some laws while ignoring others in accordance with his own beliefs. Now he is taking his power to a new and illegitimate level with this sweeping legislative action. Only someone with the hubris and audacity of Obama would attempt to pull this off.

If he is not challenged by Congress or the Supreme Court on this clearly unconstitutional action, he may as well declare himself emperor. —Bill Payne, Libby
