Glacier finishes third in state speech

Glacier High School’s drive for a fifth state championship was derailed Saturday by a powerful performance from crosstown rival Flathead.

Wolfpack speakers and debaters totaled 100 points to finish third behind Flathead and Bozeman in the Class AA speech and debate meet at Missoula Sentinel High School.

Glacier had one individual champion, Ben Habel in Memorized Public Address, and two second-place finishers, Josie Jolly in Legislative Debate and Harrison Kauffman in Memorized Public Address.

The Wolfpack had three place-winners in both Memorized Public Address and Legislative Debate events.

Glacier came into the state tournament as the four-time defending Class AA champion.
