Cat lady doesn't want to become bat lady

Someone on Lower Valley Road had to quarantine nine cats after a possible bat exposure. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office helped the pet owner through the process.

There was a report of eight cows running loose at the park-and-ride on Montana 82.

Tires and rims were reported stolen off of a vehicle at an Industrial Court business. The car was left up on jacks.

Deputies assisted a woman who was reportedly drunk and on foot near U.S. 2. She said she had been walking all night to get to the airport to buy a plane ticket to California.

A woman said she was attacked by her neighbor while camping at Hungry Horse Reservoir.

A West Valley Drive resident reported the theft of multiple guns from his home. He called the Sheriff’s Office with the name of a suspect.

Someone called in a woman whose face was “purplish” and was wandering around near River Place.

A Bridge Street resident reported the theft of a vase filled with coins. The resident named a suspect, who denied the accusation.

A “significant amount” of graffiti was reported on a Montana 35 bridge.

A woman was arrested following a physical dispute near U.S. 2.

After asking some kids to stop lighting fireworks, a Brunner Road resident called the authorities because the youths “got smart” with him.

Deputies arrested a man following a fight on Shady Lane. There was already a warrant for his arrest.

One caller said that a truck pulled into a U.S. 2 parking lot, shut off its lights and the occupants proceeded to throw out trash.


The Montana Highway Patrol responded to a head-on collision on Montana 40. Major damage was reported, but nobody was critically injured. The highway was blocked off while crews cleared the scene.


The Whitefish Police Department received a report of a Texas Avenue resident who had mattresses and “other unsightly items” out in the front yard for months.

Someone trying to get to work complained that the farmer’s market made it difficult to pass through Railway Street.

A passer-by picked up a wallet that was thrown out of a vehicle on Wisconsin Avenue. It was returned.


A man told the Columbia Falls Police Department that after breaking up with his girlfriend, she may have destroyed his mail.

Police counseled a Canadian man who allegedly threatened a U.S. 2 business employee over a refund.

One caller wanted police to check on a goat that was tied up near Ninth Street West. It appeared to be healthy.
