OPINION: Why is Woodland Park neglected?

I have always been very proud of Woodland Park here in Kalispell. It is commendable for a small town to have such a large and lovely park. Lately I have noticed that the pond is clogged with moss or algae and only one of the aerators is working. When I asked around I found that this has been going on for quite some time, as well as less trimming and lawn care.

What is the problem? Why is the park being neglected? Where is the money that has funded it’s upkeep in the past? Maybe a few phone inquiries from interested citizens will result in some improvement. It would be a shame to see the park deteriorate into stagnant ponds and weedy grass.—Carole Reeves, Kalispell
