Rex Lee Jones, 84

Rex Lee Jones, 84, of Columbia Falls, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 29, 1931, the ninth of 11 children to Harry and Jeanette Jones in LaPorte, Indiana. When he was 3 years old the family packed up and moved to Montana. He would call this home the rest of his life.

After getting out of high school he joined the Army. He served his country very proudly for the next 20 years. While in the Army, he received many medals, including the Army Accommodation Medal and the Bronze Star. He loved his country and was always a very patriotic man.

While in the Army, he met Jean Bartter in England and they were married in 1952. In the next five years three daughters were born, Sharyn, Deb and Cindy. For 20 yeas the family traveled the world, living in several countries and states before coming home to Montana. In 1968, the family settled in Columbia Falls.

Rex then went to work in the logging industry until 1980, then drove truck over the road for Glacier Carriers for several years. After he stopped driving truck, his brother Roy and he started cutting firewood together. When his brother passed away he cut firewood with his brother-in-law Virgil. He worked hard all his life.

He is survived by his two brothers, Harry and Ronald Jones; his wife, Maryann, at the family home; his three daughters, Sharyn and Lee Schrader, Deb and Dan Long, and Cindy Benson. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Rex wished to be cremated with no funeral service.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and he will be missed and loved by many.
