Citizen chases suspect in car break-in

A Sunset Boulevard resident gave chase to someone who had been trying to break into her car. During the vehicle pursuit, the resident nearly T-boned a Kalispell Police Department cruiser. Unfortunately, the suspect drove away.

A toolbox with up to $600 of tools was reported stolen from a vehicle on Second Avenue East North.

One caller was concerned that a group of men were talking about drugs in a park where children played.

Police asked a woman to move along after she was reported to be talking to a tree on U.S. 93 South.

A caller reported that a man asked her to “accompany him into the woods.” She declined and called the police instead.

There was a report that a man was hiding behind a minivan and jumping out with his pants down as cars drove by. The caller took a picture of the vehicle, which was on U.S. 93 South.


A man called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office because his ex-wife didn’t take her 12 horses in the recent divorce.

A man lost his wedding band in Columbia Falls.

One caller claimed that a county jail inmate was getting someone from Louisiana to send threatening text messages.

Some Iowa Avenue mailboxes were knocked into a creek in Columbia Falls.


The owner of a stolen bicycle told the Whitefish Police Department that the bike had no value.


The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a small grass fire that started on Second Street West. It was reportedly the result of a blown transformer.
