Employee calls 911 on sharp negotiator

The employee of an Electric Avenue business reported the theft of a stereo to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies spoke with the alleged thief, who provided a bill of sale and said he negotiated a price. After that, the employee acknowledged that the stereo was legally sold but she didn’t think the price was right. She was advised that this wasn’t theft.

A driver reported that a dog chased a deer onto Helena Flats Road. After the driver passed, he saw the deer go after the dog for revenge.

There was a claim that a U.S. 2 resident was “over-breeding” Chihuahuas.

The family of a motorcycle traveler was concerned because the 58-year-old cyclist’s last Facebook post was nearly a week old. He was in the valley, and eventually texted the family that he’s OK.

Animal control picked up a live bat that someone trapped on Pleasant Valley Road. The deputy took it to the animal shelter to be euthanized. That agency referred him to the county health department, who sent him to environmental health services, who sent him back to the main health department for testing.

There was a report of a reckless sports car with out-of-state plates that nearly caused several accidents on Montana 40.

An Addison Square resident complained that a neighbor’s wind chimes were scaring the birds.

One vehicle was seen swerving all over East Reserve Drive, while moving “way below” the speed limit.

A pit bull chewed through its rope, jumped the fence and was running at large near Eighth Avenue East in Kalispell.

Deputies detained an unruly 15-year-old who reportedly punched his dad in the nose.

Someone broke out the lights, stole the battery, tore off the center console and sprayed shaving cream all over a woman’s car on Conrad Drive.


An employee at a Central Avenue business told the Whitefish Police Department about an enterprising transient who had set up a hammock behind the building.

A U.S. 93 business reported that employees caught a shoplifter. By the time police arrived, they had let the man go.

There was a report of two people in a vehicle passing a bottle back and forth. It turned out to be a non-alcoholic beverage.


West Valley EMS responded to help someone who had become pinned between two vehicles and possibly broke a hip.


A Fourth Street East resident was alarmed to arrive home and find a “rock on her deck painted like an eyeball.” The Columbia Falls Police Department was advised.


The Lake County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest for domestic violence on Hillside Road.
