Howard Wayne Poier, 57

Howard Wayne Poier, 57, passed away July 18, 2015, as the result of a fire in his home.

Howard was born Jan. 24, 1958, in Kalispell to Stan and Ellen Poier. The youngest of three boys, he spent his early years hunting, fishing and hiking with family and friends.

Howard loved to explore; he journeyed to most of the mountain lakes in the area, including Glacier Park. Howard loved to organize get-togethers with old friends from younger years, he was a great host and created a lot of good memories for those he knew.

He graduated from Flathead High School in 1976. Howard attended Flathead Valley Community College, earning an Associate of Arts degree. He then attended Northern Montana College in Havre, earning a certificate as an electrical technician.

As an adult, Howard worked at Semitool as an electrical technician until 1991. He had been employed at Stoltze Lumber in Columbia Falls for the past 18 years.

Howard enjoyed reading and was a history buff. He was loved by his family and friends and will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanton L. Poier, and mother, Ellen Poier.

He is survived by his father, Stan Poier; brother, Don, and sister-in-law, Deb Poier; nephew, Casey Poier; and niece, Samantha Poier; as well as relatives scattered throughout the Flathead Valley and Rocky Mountain region.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home.
