LETTER: Bush or Clinton scenario is less than inspiring

| July 29, 2015 8:43 PM

Here we go again with sub-par choices of presidential candidates. History has shown Presidents Harry S. Truman, Democrat, and Ronald Reagan, Republican, to be two of our better presidents. Both had a well thought-out program and articulated a vision of a more prosperous America directly to the people. They put the American people first and their political parties, poll numbers and historical legacies last.

A close aide to President Obama showed contempt for the voter, commenting “American voters are dumb,” in regards to the Affordable Care Act that was concocted behind closed doors.

Presently the front-runners are:

Gov. Jeb Bush, who says he governs as a true conservative. Hogwash. He and his family have always been Rockerfeller Republicans in public office. If you believe that he is a staunch conservative I got a bridge for sale.

Mrs. Hillary Clinton’s credentials are being married to a former president and head of the U.S. State Department under the Obama administration. Under her tenure the U.S. State Department was riddled with mistakes, poor judgment (Benghazi), and incompetence. Her supporters’ mantra is and will continue to be: America needs a woman president and if you do not vote for her you are sexist. Mrs. Clinton, you are not in the same league as Mrs. Margaret Thatcher of England or Mrs. Indira Gandhi of India.

A perfect example of failed leadership is the present occupant in the White House. President Obama’s only credential was being a community organizer. His supporters used the mantra, America needs a black president, if you do not vote for him you are a racist. I want to cite two of his initiatives affecting the safety of the American people and illustrating why Mr. Truman and Mr. Reagan will go down as two of America’s better presidents and President Obama as one of the worst.

The nuclear arms agreement with Iran will give them time to produce nuclear bombs to carry out their threat to wipe Israel off the map, also the club to bully other Middle East countries. Keep in mind Iranians are Persians and speak Farsi, not Arabic.

And what about normalizing relations with Cuba, which has abused, imprisoned and executed dissidents of their communist regime for over 50 years? The Cubans are demanding the price for normal relations to be immediate end to the embargo, return of Guantanamo Bay and compensation from the U.S. taxpayers. Odds are President Obama will give in.

Courtesy of the nuclear arms agreement, Iran can sell more of its oil and with the lifting of the embargo Iran can purchase nuclear equipment such as centrifuges and finance the manufacturing of more bombs with sophisticated missile delivery systems.

Imagine this scenario: Cuba needs hard currency to upgrade its military and asks Iran for the money. Iran agrees under a quid pro quo arrangement. Iran provides the money and Cuba allows Iran to place nuclear tipped missiles in Cuba aimed at America that the mullahs in Iran call the “Great Satan,” who vowed to replace the Stars and Stripes with the Red Crescent over the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

Scary, isn’t it? —John H. Rallis, Columbia Falls
