LETTER: Politicians need to change their selfish approach

| July 30, 2015 8:41 PM

I find it rather ironic that both the senators from California have written letters relating their disgust with what happened in San Francisco when the woman was apparently shot by an illegal immigrant.

Both stated openly, that this never should have happened, but both have been in the Senate long before the 1996 Bill Clinton law was passed by the Congress dealing with exactly this problem and what has been done?

Sanctuary cities are anarchy, plain and simple, and should not be allowed in this republic. For when you have states, counties and cities defying federal law, you have no law and therefore anarchy, which makes the Constitution of the United States a blank piece of paper.

People are tired of hearing “Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” for it is meaningless. We have immigration laws on the books and a Border Patrol to enforce those laws, but when you have a present day administration that is doing absolutely nothing but lip service for this problem, you have an open border.

This is a problem that has existed since 1986 under President Reagan when he granted 3 million illegal aliens amnesty, and all the politicians have done is talk, talk, talk about this issue without really doing anything and NOW the Chickens have come home to roost.

This next election isn’t just about a president; it’s about the very survival of America as a free and democratic republic and it means that the politicians’ jobs are on the line as well.

There has been nothing but lies from the administration, and I don’t mean little white lies but major lies that have had a great impact upon the economics of this country and the rights of its citizens. The Supreme Court is now a political court and there is outrage over this very issue to the point to where people are demanding term limits to the courts.

My advice to all of you politicians is quite simple: Start looking out for the interest of this country and not the interest of your party or your pocketbook! —Jim Garvey, Kalispell
