Law roundup: No medical call for ringing sounds

A Wisconsin Avenue man called the Whitefish Police Department and requested an ambulance because he was suddenly stricken by a ringing in his ears. Later, he said that his ears had stopped ringing and called off his medical request.

A Woodland Place resident said that a neighbor’s marijuana habits were causing his apartment to smell.

Someone at a Baker Avenue casino reportedly tried to put a counterfeit bill into the machine. The bill was rejected and an employee reviewed video footage for police.

There were multiple reports of fireworks in the Barkley Lane area, but police were unable to locate the source.


A Third Avenue East North business reported to the Kalispell Police Department a couple who allegedly stole popsicles and paid for other items with bounced checks.

A burglary was reported at a North Main Street home. The suspect entered through a back window.

One man thought he lost a $4,000 check inside a U.S. 93 business.

There was a report of some youths driving a golf cart down Denver Avenue at a “high speed.” It’s unknown what kind of dangerous speed the cart was capable of.

“Several drunk males” were making a Center Street resident nervous, according to a phone call.

One caller asked that police remove a dead cat from a Seventh Avenue West sidewalk.

A crash on Fifth Avenue West North involved a motor home and a pickup. Nobody was injured, but the driver of the RV was accused of running a stop sign.

A gun was reported stolen from a home on Eighth Avenue West.

A reportedly drunken driver was not keeping a low profile. A witness spotted the truck spinning circles in the parking lot of a Third Avenue East North business. The driver was arrested.

A suspected burglar was arrested near U.S. 2 East. The suspect reportedly broke into storage units and fled on a bicycle.

One caller said that people were getting “tired of waiting” for a stoplight on West Reserve Drive and just went right on through.


The Columbia Falls Police Department responded to a crash on Ninth Street West. No injuries were reported.

One caller wanted to speak with an officer about a shopping cart that struck the person’s vehicle.

One driver reportedly threatened another with a knife in a road rage incident on Ninth Street West.


A woman told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that her regular nurse visited her Columbia Meadows Drive home and borrowed a log splitter. It was returned in damaged form.

A U.S. 2 company near Kalispell reported a missing pickup from the property. A fence was damaged nearby and it appeared that someone drove over it.

A pickup lost a mattress from its payload while driving on Tronstad Road.

While a freight train moved westbound through the county, a conductor spotted an unwanted passenger. Lincoln County authorities were contacted as it moved across the border.

There was a report of a child that was left in a car on First Avenue West. A deputy investigated and found that it was actually a dog and the animal appeared to be fine.

One caller reported the theft of license plates from a boat trailer. It occurred “in the last 10 years,” according to the report.

A man brought a cat named Smokey to the sheriff’s office after a reportedly abusive owner gave it up to him.

The windows of a car on U.S. 93 were reported to be smashed.

The residents of a Buffalo Trail home said that they watched a skunk crawl under their porch.

There was a report of two vehicles racing at a “super-high” speed on East Reserve Drive. One was reportedly painted like the General Lee.

A Helena Flats resident locked herself in her bathroom because she thought somebody might be inside her home. A deputy walked through the place and found it to be unoccupied, except for the resident.
