Driver dares train to stop; gets lucky
Someone told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office of seeing a small car succeed in a game of chicken with a train near Halfmoon Road. The witness said that car drove up onto the tracks and sat there until the train stopped. Then it drove away.
A suspicious driver on Mission Way South had drug paraphernalia in the front seat, according to one eagle-eyed witness.
Someone reported that two vehicles had been vandalized on Whitefish Stage. He thought that there would be fingerprints left by the vandals as evidence.
After helping someone move from a U.S. 93 South home near Whitefish, a man allegedly stole the stove and door frames. With a deputy’s encouragement, the man returned the items.

A driver was seen “doing burn-outs” near Rose Crossing after drinking heavily, according to a report.
Deputies arrested a man with a lengthy rap sheet in multiple states. He also carried an identification card belonging to a dead man.
The Columbia Falls Police Department contacted the owner of a boxer mix dog after the pup was impounded near 10th Street West.
One caller asked if people under the age of 18 could have e-cigarettes. They can, but only until Jan. 1, 2016, when a new ban goes into effect.
A large sport utility vehicle was parked “in the handicap spot and four other spots” near East 13th Street, according to the Whitefish Police Department. An officer asked the owner to move it.
Dispatch received a call from a child who said she couldn’t find her dad. The father was nearby, however.
