Bigfork alum to coach Vals volleyball
BIGFORK — Bigfork alumna Schuyler Baird has been hired as the new head coach for Bigfork volleyball pending board approval. Baird was the junior varsity coach last season.
Baird, who graduated from BHS in 1994, played volleyball, basketball and tennis for the Valkyries before playing volleyball on scholarship at Montana State-Northern in Havre.
She was the varsity coach at Columbia High School in Nampa, Idaho for many years before returning to Bigfork last year as a middle school teacher.
“I had a lot of fun with them last year,” Baird said. “I expect a lot of good things.”
The Vals are returning most of the key players from last year, including at least four starters from a team that finished fourth at the Western B divisional tournament.
“I really like the girls. Volleyball is a passion of mine. I love to stay involved with it.”
“She’s plugged into the program and the girls know her,” Bigfork activities director Mark Creamer said. “We’re really excited about it.”
