Man hits bear, lives to tell tale
An elderly man called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office with quite a tale. He said that a small bear, about 135 pounds, entered his Tamarack Woods Drive property. He said the bear was “small enough that he could probably wrestle it.” Eventually it got close to the back door, and the man said he smacked it on the nose. The bear took off, according to the man.
An attempted trailer theft occurred on U.S. 93 near Whitefish, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The owner said someone tried to hook onto his enclosed trailer and drive off, but it fell off the hitch just down the road.
The friend of a tenant at a Mount Aeneas Lane home told the Sheriff’s Office that the landlord just walked in one day and started taking pictures.
A Foy’s Lake Road resident felt his Fourth Amendment rights were violated when a county weed control employee set foot on his property.

A man was slumped over the wheel of a car and passed out near U.S. 93 North. His foot was on the clutch pedal and the car was in gear. He was arrested.

Someone saw a small child pressing on a second-floor screen window on Windward Way. The caller thought the kid might press too hard and fall out.
A Sixth Avenue West resident found a mystery truck in the driveway with the keys in it. The truck didn’t turn out to be a gift, but rather an improper parking job.
Security footage allegedly showed two people pick up an iPad that someone previously dropped inside a Hutton Ranch Road business. The tablet was not returned.
