Dealership collects peanut butter to help food bank
Whitefish Ford, in conjunction with the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign, is collecting jars of peanut butter from June 5 to 13 to support the summer demand for kid-friendly foods at the North Valley Food Bank.
There is increased demand for this expensive staple during the summer when many children lose access to school nutrition programs.
It is estimated nearly 24 percent of children are unsure how their next meal will be provided. When school is out during the summer, local food banks carry a larger responsibility to feed kids. Peanut butter is an important protein staple but difficult to acquire in adequate quantities.
To make a donation, bring jars of peanut butter to Whitefish Ford, 6331 U.S. 93 S. in Whitefish, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Shoppers at Super 1 Foods also be able to donate jars of peanut butter while checking out.
Last year’s drive collected more than 30,000 pounds of peanut butter. Those unable to donate in person also can online at www.fordfeedskids.org by clicking on the food bank of their choice to make a cash donation.
This drive is part of a five-state campaign in the Pacific Northwest by Ford dealers to support their community food banks and make sure no child goes hungry this summer.
Started in 2013, the Ford Focus on Child Hunger has provided more than 1 million meals and snacks to children in the Pacific Northwest.
