Baseball: Mariners draft Pistorese
For the second time in his career, Flathead High alumnus Joe Pistorese heard his named called in the MLB Draft.
The Washington State University all-time innings-pitched leader was taken in the 17th round of the MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, becoming the 515th player selected overall in the three-day draft.
In 2011, Pistorese was selected in the 44th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft but opted to honor his commitment to the Cougars baseball team.
A four-year all-state selection for the Kalispell Lakers, Pistorese captured the all-time innings pitcher mark this season, throwing 369 innings. He also tied the all-time starts record with 55.
