Drivers attempting to turn onto First Avenues east and west this week may find them partially blocked.

City workers are shoring up the two thoroughfares on either side of Main Street, putting down fresh stripes and chip-sealing the roadways.

Traffic could be restricted to one lane at times and on-street parking is restricted.

The work on First Avenue West is planned from Center Street to 18th Street. The work on First Avenue East is from Center Street to Fifth Street.

Kalispell Public Works Director Susie Turner said at Monday’s budget meeting that the department spends $100,000 to $200,000 per year on chip sealing.
