Napping in the park deemed OK

One caller wanted the Kalispell Police Department to ask a man resting in Depot Park to leave. An officer met the man, who was napping, and said “there is nothing wrong with him doing that.”

Police assisted on a head-on collision on Commons Way. One person received minor injuries.

There was a report of a verbal argument on Fifth Avenue West that included many “F words.”

Someone called 911 and then hung up. Upon calling back, dispatch was greeted by an angry woman who refused to give information and hung up.


A woman looked out the window of a Riley Lane building and saw someone in her car. She told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that the stranger got out and walked away.

An absent-minded gun owner lost his pistol. He told authorities that it “may have fallen out of his pocket.”

A Pondera County detective helped a couple push a car to the side of the road. There was a strong odor of marijuana, according to the detective, who called local authorities.

Some dogs were likely having the best time of their lives chasing deer out near Wilson Heights. A neighbor didn’t like this, however, and called the Sheriff’s Office.

A computer was reported stolen out of an ambulance on U.S. 93 near Kalispell.

Some people, “possibly teenagers,” were playing loud and “offensive” music near a lake. They turned it down when a deputy arrived.

The reporting party of a possible drunken driver on East California street also thought the group was full of “crack-heads.”

A man was allegedly supposed to appear in court, but instead he was found at a Columbia Falls bar.

There was a kid loose on Third Avenue South in Hungry Horse. In this case, the kid was a baby goat.

Someone saw “three strange people” rummaging through trash bins near Essex.

Several thousand dollars in tools were reported stolen from a work vehicle on Montana 35.

A majestic white horse was seen running along the side of U.S. 2 near Kalispell.


Multiple people called the Whitefish Police Department about a dog inside a running parked car on East Second Street. One claimed that the owner might be high. An officer found the dog and the owner to be fine.

Two bystanders couldn’t catch a loose dog on East Second Street, but they tried.

Police found and cited the offending driver in a hit-and-run on Central Avenue.


An accident on West Reserve Drive in north Kalispell and a stranded boat on U.S. 2 in Evergreen caused traffic congestion Friday afternoon.
