Tykes on trikes pose road hazard

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office caught up with a young diaper-clad child riding a tricycle down the middle of Mountain View Drive. He was with a slightly older youth on a bicycle. The kids led the deputy back home where the mother was laying down and not feeling well.

An elderly man was reportedly walking along Montana 206 and having a tough time getting along. The man refused offers for rides.


One caller warned the Whitefish Police Department that chaos would ensue if the traffic cones were left out at the U.S. 93 construction site. The witness said the cones had been destroyed or moved. An officer simply put them upright.

Someone who saw three loose dogs thought that they “may have been aggressive to another dog,” but didn’t actually see anything. She was watching from the relative safety of a Riverside Avenue home.


The Kalispell Fire Department quickly put out at least three small grass fires that started along the U.S. 93 bypass.


A witness told the Kalispell Police Department that a car came “flying down the road” and smashed into a utility trailer on Teal Drive. The young driver then took off on foot. Police found the suspect driver.

A sprinkler was broken and “gushing water,” according to one witness on Third Avenue East. An inspection found that the sprinkler was simply watering a lawn per usual.

There was a burglary reported on Fourth Avenue West North in which a window was smashed and a snowblower was taken.

An older driver “blacked out” for a few minutes in a turn lane on North Meridian Street.

An Allegiant jet that had just taken off from Glacier Park International Airport on Sunday night had to reverse course and land because of a maintenance problem. Passengers reported hearing a loud bang on the Los Angeles-bound flight. One passenger who said there were dozens of children on the plane described the incident as “harrowing.” The flight was rescheduled for Monday night.
