New car owner suspicious of 'junk' in trunk

A man who recently bought a car called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office about an “odd object” in the trunk. It looked like a bomb, he said, with wires and tubes. Deputies responded to the U.S. 2 location and found that this was just part of the car.


An apparently suspicious man in green shorts was looking through car windows on East Idaho Street. The Kalispell Police Department arrested him on warrants.

Police found an open car door near where a man was reported to be looking into cars with a flashlight. The suspect was not on scene at the U.S. 93 location.

One caller said that a woman ran into his car with a vehicle and drove off. The alleged victim followed the hit-and-run suspect and said that she parked along West Nevada Street and “staggered” into the building. She was later arrested.

Someone told police that a man in “camo shorts” was smoking marijuana at Woodland Park.


The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a report of smoke at a Hutton Ranch Road business. The location was evacuated, but no smoke was found.


Three kids walking through a Columbia Street alley were suspicious, according to a call to the Whitefish Police Department. There was no indication about why they were suspicious, but the caller noted they were all wearing shorts.


A “bag lady” was allegedly stealing clothes from a Nucleus Avenue store, according to a report to the Columbia Falls Police Department. She was seen “hurrying away” from the store with a basket full of items.

Police had to take a man home from a Ninth Street West location because he didn’t leave his drink inside.
