LIBBY — The bats were on display for both teams in Wednesday’s American Legion baseball doubleheader featuring the Libby Loggers and Kalispell Lakers A.

The two clubs combined for 45 hits, scoring 49 runs in the conference twinbill.

The Logger prevailed in the opener, 19-7.

The Lakers started hot with six runs in the top of the first inning, but Libby answered with five of their own in the bottom half and scored nine more runs over the next two innings.

The Loggers slapped four doubles, two triples and two home runs in the Game 1 victory.

Oliver Grupenhoff went 3 for 4 from the plate for Libby, driving in five runs with a double and a home run. Luke Haggerty went 4 for 5 with a double and a triple, and Trace Tamarro finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a home run.

Libby jumped out early in the nightcap, posting three runs in the bottom of the first, but the Lakers responded with six runs in the top of the second and would never concede the lead on their way to a 13-10 victory.

After scoring two runs in the top of the seventh to hold a 13-7 advantage, Kalispell fended off a three-run Libby rally for the win.

Gunnar Marsh was 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI for the Lakers, while Taylor Seaman finished 4 for 5 with a pair of RBIs.

Grupenhoff had two doubles and three RBIs in Game 2, finishing the doubleheader with eight RBIs on five hits.
