OPINION: There's no free lunch
Americans do not question what is happening around them, and ignore national and international decisions shaping their and their children’s lives.
Well-intentioned but misguided people at all levels of governments are enablers (progressives). Their mantra is: You are not capable of making proper decisions; it’s not your fault where you are in life; you are entitled to receive monies earned by a more productive person; and, only government can help and provide sustenance.
There is a very high price paid by every American in accepting government as your decision maker. Progressives with one hand will give you a pittance and with the other reach around and grab your wallet.
The progressive agenda enacted in small steps over years is destroying jobs; productive middle class; marginalizing achievers; ignoring the U.S. Constitution and its Judeo-Christian roots, history, unique culture; and creating a nation of dependents.
The federal government’s out-of-control spending is bankrupting America. Government spokespersons have said we borrow 45 cents for each dollar we spend as a nation. Truth is the many “off-budget” items not listed in budget make the real red ink 50 cents or more on the dollar.
Borrowing at this rate is unsustainable. At some point America’s financial house will collapse as all great civilizations and empires have done throughout recorded history. The only difference is some last longer than others. There are no exceptions.
There will be a time of turmoil, and America will be reborn. Question is can the American people (with self-examination and accurate knowledge of what made America the greatest nation on earth) make a better America when it is reborn. We shall see. —John H. Rallis, Columbia Falls
