Patriot suspected in swap of bicycle for American flag

A man told the Kalispell Police Department that his son’s bicycle was stolen from Fifth Avenue West and an American flag was left in its place. The man located the bicycle later one block away.

A woman called police because a cat had gotten into her Stratford Drive home and was hissing. She requested assistance.

A witness suspected burglary upon seeing two people walk out of a house near Fifth Avenue East with bags. The pair looked suspicious, according to the caller. Police were unable to locate them.

Someone has been sneaking onto a First Avenue East property and rearranging wooden pots, according to the resident. This time, they were moved onto the top of a fence.

One person received a call from a “county weather service” warning of extreme weather. An officer noted that the weather was calm and the county doesn’t have a weather service.

No injuries were reported in an accident on Grandview Drive. The two vehicles were moderately damaged and blocked traffic for a while.

What was initially reported as a verbal disturbance turned out to be an “animated conversation,” according to the report.


The Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to aid a man who was reportedly shocked by 480 volts of electricity. He was later said to be in stable condition.

 The West Valley Fire Department quickly contained a grass fire reported near West Reserve Drive and Whitefish Stage Road.


A Colorado Avenue apartment manager told the Whitefish Police Department that he got some “pretty good face shots” of suspected vehicle vandals.

Someone rummaged through an unlocked vehicle on Woodside Lane, but there was apparently nothing to steal. The owner reported nothing missing.

A landlord tried to evict tenants at Spokane Avenue but arrived to find the locks changed. He also noted a strong odor of kerosene, according to the report.


A Sixth Avenue West resident told the Columbia Falls Police Department that a man called and claimed to be from the FBI. The purported agent said that he was investigating a car the resident had won. It’s unclear whether or not the resident had actually won a car.

A resident of Seventh Street West arrived home to find a mysterious truck parked halfway in the lawn. Police attempted to contact the registered owner.

Someone on Fifth Street East told police that there was “quite a bit of traffic” in the area, which was unusual.
