Morleys, Hill in top 10 at Brooks PR Invitational
SEATTLE — Montana was well represented at one of the nation’s premier high school track and field meets on Saturday, with four Treasure State athletes competing at the Brooks PR Invitational.
Kalispell’s Annie Hill finished sixth in the girls mile race, leading all freshmen in 4:48.32. Bigfork’s Bryn Morley, who won the Class B 1,600-meter race last month, finished 10th in the mile, running it in 4:52.62. Oregon’s Ella Donaghu won the race in 4:43.07.
Makena Morley, a senior at Bigfork competing in the final meet of her prestigious high school career before enrolling at the University of Montana this fall, finished in ninth in the two-mile race, completing it in 10:32.06. Anna Rohrer, an Indiana distance runner who finished second to Makena at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country race in Scotland in January, won the race in 9:59.96.
Christina Aragon, who finished her junior season at Billings Senior with Class AA championships in the 400, 800 and 1,600, won the 800 on Saturday by more than a second, finishing in 2:04. The win adds to a remarkable national season for Aragon. She won the adidas Dream Mile earlier this month in New York and finished third in the mile at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.
